A beautiful smile is not lost on Dr. Rex Hoang, owner of the prominent DC Dental Spa, a private dental practice in Washington, D.C. For the past 17 years, he has flossed, filled and fixed the pearly whites of many local residents. Educated at the University of Pennsylvania, Hoang epitomizes his practice's methodology: he works hard, cares for his patient's health and isn't afraid to make people comfortable. It's this commitment to customer satisfaction that has helped put DC Dental Spa on the map.
"We know that many people don't like to go to the dentist so we make it as comfortable as possible. By utilizing the latest technology in dental treatment – such as laser dentistry – we don't have to numb or give patients shots," said Hoang. "We also have a great bedside manner, can work around a patient's schedule and always put our customers’ interests first."
Since it opened in 1990, the technologically advanced DC Dental Spa has been a one-stop shop for dental treatment. With a sanitized work environment, a friendly staff and the newest technology the dental field has to offer, Hoang's practice has become one of the most recognized in the District. With three on-call dentists and 14 staff members, there's no shortage of top-quality assistance.

"A couple of thing that my staff and myself continually practice include treating patients as if they were our family members," said Hoang. "We also try to know each patient's dreams and aim to satisfy them. At DC Dental Spa, 99 percent is not good enough. We accept nothing less than 100 percent."
When Hoang is not tending to patients, he's exercising his charitable ambitions. Ensuring his younger customers are given positive attention, Hoang created the Good Deed Program, an inspirational campaign for children aged 18 years or younger. Designed to reward children for doing good deeds while reinforcing the importance of helping others, the program has become a successful part of Hoang’s practice.
"We are constantly being bombarded by the media with bad news about children—there's rarely any positive information. I want people to be aware of those children who perform good deeds and reward them," said Hoang. "The program has become a tremendous success. We get thousands of letters from local kids describing their good deeds."
Hoang's philanthropic endeavors don't end there. Assisting in various food drives and such programs as “Toys for Tots,” Hoang makes it a point to help those in need. In fact, one of his larger events continues to makes an impression on the people of Washington, D.C. For those patients who can’t afford dental treatment, DC Dental Spa hosts what's called an "Emergency Day." Area residents can attend the event and receive dental treatment for free. According to Hoang, 400 people participated last year. More are expected to attend this year.
Outside of his office, Hoang enjoys practicing his martial arts and playing sports, including tennis, golf and badminton. When he's not strumming his guitar, riding his motorcycle or attending to his ten pets – he has five dogs, two cats, two macaws and a ferret – he's spending time with his family. All the while, he's undoubtedly smiling.
"A smile is a universal language that crosses all barriers of language and ethnicity. It is the first thing people notice when they meet," said Hoang. "Healthier teeth equal a healthier life. If a patient is disciplined and responsible with their dental health, healthy teeth can last many years if not a lifetime." |
